Women’s Health Victoria (WHV) is an independent, state-wide women’s health promotion, advocacy and support service. We are an independent, feminist, not-for-profit organisation.

About the role

WHV seeks an accountant who will Manage/Co-ordinate a range of financial functions to support the effective financial management of Women’s Health Victoria and it’s legislative and reporting requirements. The role is diverse and covers multiple facets of the finance function.

Responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Process of accounts payable/accounts receivable;
  • Preparation and processing of fortnightly payroll;
  • Reconciliation, preparation and reporting of BAS, Superannuation, Long Service Leave and other legal requirements;
  • Completing month end journals and reconciliation of all ledger accounts e.g bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors, accruals, prepayments, payroll, revenue etc.;
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly programme reporting to the managers;
  • Preparation and analysis of bi- monthly reports to the Finance and Risk Committee and the Board;
  • Assist in the co-ordination of the annual budget;
  • Maintain review and update financial policies and procedures as required by legislation or other requirements;
  • Identify and manage risk as part of the quality assurance framework in relation to the finance function;
  • Undertake a review of the current accounting system with a view to either enhance it or change it.

You will have: 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA/CA or working towards;
  • Strong IT skills, in particular MYOB, MS Office software, particularly Word and Excel, data collection system; Desirable but not mandatory experience in operating Xero and experience in the implementation of Xero software;
  • Demonstrated experience in end to end payroll function;
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of monthly financial reporting to Board level;
  • Flexibility to respond to short and long term changing needs;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to provide resolution to issues;
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail and meeting deadlines;
  • Experience working effectively within a team environment;
