About the role
This is an exciting time to be joining Women’s Health Victoria, as we embark on our next five-year strategy, get ready launch a fresh new contemporary brand, and deepen our work on diversity and inclusion!
We are seeking an experienced Media and Communications Officer to work in our newly established Brand & Marketing team, to help grow the organisation’s brand and reach across Victoria primarily through media and PR.
From creating high impact media engagement to coordinating a range of comms projects, to supporting a more creative and contemporary social media presence, this is an opportunity to bring your broad-based media and comms skills to an organisation that has a lot to say and is ready to scale up our public facing activity in a big way.
Working alongside other brand, comms, health promotion and marketing colleagues, you will be in a supportive and collaborative environment where you will:
- Manage media and PR engagement for WHV and our programs and services
- Produce media and comms campaigns, with engaging, accurate and brand-aligned, creative content
- Provide operational comms coordination and support across out website/s and digital platform/social media
- Coordinate and and edit/produce publications, events, and other projects
- Have an understanding and commitment to a feminist framework
Your approach
You are highly productive and collaborative with proven experience delivering earned media results, or wit a background in journalism. You are a skilled writer who can translate research and advocacy information written for the sector, into engaging, accurate and newsworthy media content, and can confidently and successfully pitch it to journalists and editors across a range of news and PR publications.
You will also be able to build our media content into integrated social media and comms campaigns. Our ideal candidate is creative and ideas-driven, who can take those ideas, workshop them with others, and then execute them swiftly and effectively.
This hybrid role is suited to someone who will own the role and drive their own workload with direction, who enjoys creating and collaborating with others, who takes initiative, and takes pride in delivering great results.
Our successful candidate will be at ease working across a variety of digital platforms and systems and can manage competing priorities daily. You will be comfortable working with tight budgets but will have the advantage of great internal resources and assets to help drive earned and owned media opportunities. You may have a background in journalism, media management, NFP or social impact sector communications roles. Most importantly, you understand the media and social media landscapes and how they work together for the best results.
