Senior Project Coordinator – shEqual (gender equality in ads project)

About the organisation

Women’s Health Victoria is a statewide women’s policy, health promotion, advocacy and support service with a proud history of 30 years. We are an independent, feminist, not-for-profit organisation. We advocate and build system capacity for a gendered approach to health that reduces inequalities and improves health outcomes for women.

We offer excellent salary packaging benefits, flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to be involved in making a difference in the lives of Victorian women. Our work covers five priority areas: Sexual and Reproductive Health, Prevention of Violence Against Women, Mental Health and Body Image, Women’s Equality and Women with Cancer.

About the role

We are seeking values driven, innovative and experienced professional for our Policy, Health Promotion and Capacity Building Unit to coordinate the shEqual project.

ShEqual is the first coordinated effort in Australia to address sexism in the advertising setting.  Sexist advertising contributes to a culture of violence against women, but more realistic and respectful portrayals of women and girls in advertising can help bring that culture to an end. It’s our mission to raise industry and public awareness, reinforce positive behaviours, and empower people to take action in shaping how women are represented in the stories we tell and consume.

The role will focus on the coordination, development and implementation of shEqual. You will be working closely with the gender equity and capacity building team on policy development and advocacy on women’s equality and prevention of violence against women.

Your approach

As a passionate advocate for women’s health and gender equality, you are proactive, accountable (for self and others), people focused and inclusive. You are an effective communicator who actively shares ideas, information and resources to achieve positive outcomes.

As the Senior Project Coordinator shEqual, you will operate within a supportive and structured environment and will need to have:

  • Expertise in gender equality and prevention of violence against women
  • Highly developed organisational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining purposeful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

If you are looking for a great role in an innovative, flexible and supportive, feminist environment, where you can make a significant difference to the lives of women and girls across Victoria, check out the position description below and get your application in.

Preferred start date as soon as possible but preferably no later than 29 January 2024
